Out of all the toys sold in toy stores today, nitro remote control helicopters have come to be number one. Children and adults as well die to experience the all new high quality and advanced performance of improved nitro helicopters. These toys that have been built for hobbyists and enthusiasts alike can be a bit more costly than the other types of choppers. But when compared to its price, there is much more that the nitro offers to people that are willing to take flying a bit more seriously. Since there are plenty of spare parts in the toy shops, most amends could be done by yourself if you have some knowledge about how an engine works.

 These remote control helicopters come in two separate methods. The first is the self-assembly kit which comes in parts and you have to assemble it to make it fly. The other is readymade and is flyable right out of the box. These toys are many times faster and powerful compared to electric RC helicopters because they are powered by nitro fuel.

 It is best that you get some practice using electric remote control helicopters before buying one of these nitro models. A Remote Control Helicopters is a model aircraft different from an RC airplane in their construction, flight training and aerodynamics. There are several basic designs of RC helicopters existing today some of which maneuver more than others. These that maneuver more than others have collective pitch which means their blades rotate on longitudinal axis to reverse or vary lift. The harder to fly are the more maneuverable designs but have the added advantage of more aerobatic capabilities. Flight controls gives pilots control over collective and throttle, tail rotor and cyclic control of the helis. When all these controls are controlled in unison, the helicopter is able to perform most of its maneuvers as full-sized helicopters. The maneuvers include hovering and backward flight and other maneuvers that a full size helicopter cannot perform.

The controls effected on the RC choppers are made by means of servo motors which are also known as servos. One such example is the piezoelectric gyroscope normally used on the tail rotor control for countering the wind and torque-reaction induced in the tail movement. The "gyro" doesn't apply a mechanical force but adjusts the control signal for the tail rotor servo. The engines for the helis used to be powered by methanol and run by two stroke motors. Today, the commonly used are the electric brushless motors in combination with a high performance lithium battery for efficiency, lifespan and performance compared to other brushed motors. The decrease in prices of RC choppers has brought them within reach of many hobbyists. Other fuels used include jet turbine and gasoline engines.

The growth of electric rc helicopters is strong right now.  One of the factors is because of the improved battery, micro electronic technology, and motor that was not available a few years ago. Today, electric rc choppers have caught up with nitro rc choppers in terms of performance. Single rotor electric hobby grade helicopters which some hobbyists swore not to fly are not flying it. The flight times of electric choppers are equal or even longer compared to nitro and gas models. Some of the electric choppers get 15 to 20 minutes of flight times on a single battery charge.
